Founder’s note

Why I started Things To Do In Ireland

I started Things To Do In Ireland because I care deeply about this island, the people who make it feel so welcoming, and the small places that often turn a good trip into an unforgettable one. Ireland has a rare kind of hospitality: a warm hello at the door, a local recommendation freely given, a meal made with pride, a story shared without hurry.

My passion for Ireland is tied to its tourism, its communities, and its agricultural roots. So much of what visitors love here begins with people working hard in local towns, family businesses, farms, food producers, pubs, restaurants, hotels, activity providers, and visitor experiences. I wanted to build a guide that helps travellers discover more of that real Ireland while giving local businesses a clearer way to be found.

The aim is simple: help visitors plan better trips, encourage them to explore beyond the obvious stops, and celebrate the hospitality, landscapes, food, culture, and everyday generosity that make Ireland special.

Our purpose

We are building a free discovery guide for people planning Ireland trips. The site brings together activities, county pages, events, maps, planning tools, and local business listings in one place.

Visitors will never be charged to browse. The platform is supported by paid business listings, clearly separated from editorial recommendations so readers understand what is editorial and what is a paid placement.

What we cover

Our content focuses on practical travel decisions: places worth visiting, food and drink stops, local activities, events, county-by-county planning, and businesses that can help make a trip easier.

How we work

We aim to be useful, transparent, and easy to navigate. Business listings are reviewed before publication, and directory submissions are kept separate from editorial recommendations.
